Pre-engagement, Oh-Tech conducted a comprehensive review of Somerley’s business structure, values, goals, and pain points. This in-depth analysis allowed the team to pinpoint areas where their services could significantly benefit Somerley. They identified opportunities for cost and time savings through strategic improvements. The subsequent Wi-Fi installation also entailed a detailed review of the terrain and the client’s needs.
Initially, Somerley Estate (Somerley) needed their IT network to be upgraded and monitored throughout the stately home with a separate system for their offices and guests, and the owner wanted fully managed IT support. OhTech successfully carried out this work and when subsequently Lord Normanton wanted to achieve estate-wide networking connectivity at a reasonable price, he turned again to Oh-Tech. The work entailed ensuring that Wi-Fi was available at remote locations including for entrance cameras some of which were one kilometre away.

Network segmentation:
Oh-Tech implemented VLAN configuration to separate the estate’s house, office and guest networks, enhancing security and data protection.
Fibre optic upgrade:
Oh-Tech replaced the unreliable wireless link with dedicated fibre optic connection, running from the estate office to the house over a total of 150m. This now delivers consistent, reliable high-speed internet access.
Discreet Wi-Fi expansion:
An Omni antenna with 360 degree coverage was installed to connect 25 visually concealed access points which were strategically deploye across the estate. This ensured fast-speed seamless wireless connectivity for residents, team members and visitors
Secure on-site CCTV:
Understanding the owner’s desire for a secure and user-friendly CCTV system which was not cloudbased, we installed a UniFi Protect system. This on-premises solution offers complete data privacy while providing remote access for the owner to monitor the entire property inside and out.
